The accounting software of QuickBooks can face issues of Uninstall or Reinstall because of the following reasons:
- QuickBooks will not run anymore on your computer.
- It crashes because it is not able to load pieces of its own program anymore.
- Viruses or malware corrupted the software’s installation on your computer.
- Your hard drive crashed and was replaced with a new hard drive.
- You replaced your old QuickBooks computer with a new one.
There may be times when you will have to reinstall the software due to some reason or another.
However, before reinstalling the software, there are two things you should do first:
Ironically reinstalling QuickBooks shouldn’t do anything to your existing data. You will have to be careful, especially before performing system functions. This is why it is an excellent idea to take a backup or your company data first. If you are unable to run QuickBooks to make a backup, then you should make a copy of your company data with Windows, and copy it somewhere else on your hard drive. In this way, if something goes really wrong with the reinstall steps, at least your data will not be lost.
You will first of all have to uninstall QuickBooks if it has already been installed on your hard drive, before you install the software again.
Where has this to be done? You will not find any uninstall option under your QuickBooks group in your Start List. This is why you will have to uninstall it through Windows.
Go to your Windows Control Panel.
Click on Programs and Features.
There will be a list of every program installed on your computer.
Scroll down until you see your QB program appears in the list. Double-click it.
You will be directed to the QB’s Maintenance Wizard. Click Next. You will see this:
Select Remove and finish.
The software of QuickBooks will be uninstalled/removed from your computer.
Locate your original install CD, or if you have downloaded your QuickBooks program, then download the install file.
Insert it in your CD drive if your software is on a CD, and follow the instructions to install it.
If you downloaded your QuickBooks program, then locate and double-click your downloaded QuickBooks install a program and follow the prompts.
If there is no CD and/or you can’t find your download install file anymore, click here for links to download install files from Intuit.
At some point during the install process, you’ll be asked to enter your product code and license number so as to make the installation process complete. These codes should have come with our CD packaging, or if you downloaded QuickBooks, with your download order. If you don’t have the codes, you’ll have to call Intuit to get them.
When your product has been installed, it becomes necessary for you to register it.
When you are done with the uninstallation, reinstallation and registered QuickBooks, how does it work? Great, hopefully.
